What is Capstone?
Capstone Internship & Experiential Learning Program is a credit-bearing internship program in HKU organised by UNi with School of Biological Sciences of HKU. This internship aims to provide students the opportunity to understand the relationship between public health nutrition, public health education, poverty and inequality in different societies. Students will be able to develop nutritional epidemiology and research tools to determine the factors involved in public health nutrition. Students will carry out research internship in Cambodia where they will gain knowledge and experience of carrying out research work in rural areas and research general health and socio-economic issues to carry out their own project work on campus to sustain their experiential learning process. Students will be assessed on their ability to design and conduct research study as well as communication and presentation skills. The assessment will be divided as such: verbal skill, design research proposal, critical analysis of data, and social inclusion.
Capstone is a program for experiential learning in the Hong Kong University.

Majoring in Food and Nutritional Science or related major
Program Objectives
To carry out research work in rural areas and research public health and socio-economic issues in related to food and nutritional aspect, including:
i. Health-related Survey
ii. Anthropometric measurement
iii. Food Safety
iv. Agricultural Practice
v. Nutrition Assessment
To understand the food production process and food safety in rural area.
To facilitate knowledge transfer to developing countries in the area of nutrition and public health. To coordinate and take part in the Seminars co-organized by Food and Agriculture Organization of United Nations (Cambodia), World Food Program (Cambodia), Royal University of Phnom Penh, Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia.
Internship contents
There are workshops in Hong Kong before the internship starts
1. Lectures on Diet-related Diseases, Nutrition Assessment and Public Health
2. Seminar preparation and Rehearsal
3. Group project preparation
4. Simulation on lives in developing countries
In Cambodia Students will
